"Parisian dogs ..."

March 2013 (Paris, France)
Dogs to the rescue!
Unfortunately, the story about my 4th day in Paris will be released a month later on the 5th of January 2014.
Please accept my sincere apologies for the delay in sharing my birthday cake with you and I hope not to disappoint you when it finally arrives.
In interim, take a walk with a Parisian dog ...

This dog's ego was too big to fit into one photo.

Please, can you tell my mum to stop taking the photos!

Sunday market on Rue des Martyrs ...

                                  Please, hurry up!

Meet Gypsy ...

I managed to get the cap off, but there is nothing inside!
     Oh well ...

See you soon ...

“Strolling under the blue skies ...” (part II)

(Part II)

Wednesday, 13th of March 2013 (Paris, France)

St. Paul ... here I am.

After being pointed in the right direction, I walked along the streets more in a discovery mode rather than looking for something in particular. To be honest, I am not even sure if I got to see the highlights of Marais, but I definitely derived joy from my little mystery tour. Being lost in the moment (and in Paris !) felt just wonderful.

Museum of Pablo Picasso was closed for renovations ... oh well.

I stumbled on a Chocolatier and gave it a go ... mmm (for a melting moment).

Photos below ...
can you spot the reflection?
(hint: guy wearing a white jumper)

At around 3.20 pm my stomach announced that it was time for lunch and “Boulangerie” on Rue de la Verrerie looked like the right place.

A cream of mushroom soup with parmesan cheese and a sour dough bread with olive oil was just what my body needed!

Ooops, I forgot to mention ... (my third)

Now “on the road again” ... first to an earlier spotted internet cafe (hooray!) and then to the Louvre to take me back in time, but before I got very far ...

Guess what ...?!

After two earlier unsuccessful attempts (thanks to my good balance), I finally managed to catch my first “rabbit”! I guess, one less thing to tick off from my “not to do” list.

Back at the Louvre ...

                                                           Remembering it as yesterday ...

(July 1982) Short on cash, I munched on the baguette while sitting on a bench across from the Louvre.

Please, can you tell my mum to stop taking the photos!

In need of extra fuel I popped into the Cafe Ruc for endives avec crème de roquefort and a glass of red Bordeaux before returning home.

On the way from Charles de Gaulle Etoile to Place Pigalle, the first five stations had a busking saxsophone player playing the exact same tune heard while the doors were open, and so I started to wonder ...

Fortunately the sixth station greeted us with silence. What a blessing! and proof that I am sane.

Well ... not for long! (I mean the silence and not my sanity)

At least he played a different tune.

Back on the Rue des Martyrs, I decided to buy a small bottle of cognac for medicinal purposes - to keep my circulation going and to avoid a potential cold. Unfortunately no small bottles were available.

To satisfy my intuitive feeling I decided to check out a local cafe at the southern end of my street (next to the Notre-Dame-de-Lorette).

Ending my third day with an espresso and a glass of cognac in the company of friendly owners and one of their regular clients was just great!

My self advertising even scored me a happy birthday song for the upcoming day, now only a few hours away.

Yes, I am in Paris and my countdown has begun! (sorry, no fireworks at midnight though there was one flare this morning captured on the first photo)

See you all tomorrow ... (bright and early)
